President Tinubu Hails Gbajabiamila's Contributions to Democracy
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended his Chief of Staff, Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila, for his commendable contributions to Nigeria’s nascent democracy and the legislature.
The President gave the commendation in a statement issued by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Presidential Spokesperson, on the occasion of Gbajabiamila’s 63rd birthday, today, 25th June.
President Tinubu also acknowledged the former Speaker’s dedication to the development of Lagos State, particularly his Surulere constituency.
He encouraged his Chief of Staff to continue supporting him in implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at building a better, more economically viable, and prosperous Nigeria.
Gbajabiamila was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003, representing the Surulere Constituency of Lagos State. He served six consecutive terms and held the positions of both Minority and Majority Leader at various times.
A lawyer by profession, Olufemi Gbajabiamila served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.
President Tinubu wished him a long life and good health.
During his time in the House of Representatives, Gbajabiamila consistently demonstrated a passionate commitment to issues affecting both his constituents and the nation at large, earning him a reputation as a distinguished legislator.
After 20 years of service, he resigned from the House of Representatives on 14th June 2023 to assume office as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
