President Tinubu Attributes APC's Progress To Bold Economic Reforms - Voice of Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attributed the increasing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the party’s remarkable accomplishments within its first two years in office, reassuring Nigerians that the nation will not evolve into a one-party system

He stated this during the APC Renewed Hope Agenda Summit at the State House Banquet Hall on Thursday while addressing party leaders, the National Working Committee, the National Assembly leadership, and the Progressive Governors’ Forum, which includes 22 governors.

Recounting the two years’ experience after his inauguration, President Tinubu emphasised the economic difficulties his administration faced and the decisive actions taken to reestablish national stability.

He pointed out the elimination of the petrol subsidy and the consolidation of foreign exchange markets as though painful but essential reforms.

President Tinubu emphasised that these reforms, while unpopular with certain elites, have begun to yield positive results, including huge success in foreign direct investment and greater macroeconomic stability.

The President acknowledged the difficulties ordinary Nigerians have faced due to his administration’s policy decisions, but he urged patience and perseverance, assuring that the sacrifices being made will lead to a more prosperous future.

Highlighting ongoing anti-corruption efforts, Tinubu pointed to a major asset recovery by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which reportedly retrieved over 750 properties from a single individual.

He also urged the National Assembly to accelerate the passage of pending tax reform bills, appealing to the leadership of the National Assembly for speedy passage. he said

The summit attended by top APC stakeholders including the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, members of the National Working Committee led by Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and Progressive Governors Forum led by Governor Hope Uzodinma, served as a platform to review the administration’s performance and restate its policy direction.
