President Mahama touts 24-Hour Economy as catalyst for sustained growth
President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has described the 24-Hour+ Programme as a catalyst for Ghana’s economic transformation.
Speaking at the launch of the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development initiative on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, President Mahama said the programme is designed to accelerate national development by promoting continuous productivity and creating jobs across various sectors.
“The 24-Hour+ Programme will be a catalyst for Ghana’s economic growth and will demonstrate that Ghana can prosper. This is a call to national action. A new model of economic development, grounded in productivity, powered by the private sector, and coordinated by the state, is going to be unveiled,” he stated.
President Mahama explained that the programme aims to maximise Ghana’s human and economic resources by enabling industries to operate beyond traditional working hours, increasing output and competitiveness in the global market.
“Our national strategy includes inclusive growth, export expansion, job creation, and structural transformation. We are under no illusions, the path will be challenging, but we will succeed,” he assured.
He further emphasised that the initiative will complement other development projects to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth for all Ghanaians.
“The 24-Hour+ Agenda allows us to do things differently, to do them better, and to do them together,” he added.
