President Mahama's 2025 Budget To Be Released

Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has stirred considerable anticipation among Ghanaians regarding the upcoming maiden budget of President John Dramani Mahama's government. Speaking on TV3’s New Day program, Tameklo, who also serves as the director of legal affairs for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed strong confidence that the budget, slated to be delivered by the Minister of Finance on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, will exceed public expectations.

Tameklo emphasized that President Mahama is deeply committed to fulfilling the promises made during his campaign. He suggested that the budget would serve as a concrete demonstration of this fidelity to the Ghanaian people. "What I am convinced of is that tomorrow (Tuesday, March 11), by the Grace of the Almighty God, the first budget of President John Dramani Mahama will clearly blow the minds of Ghanaians," Tameklo stated, hinting at the detailed planning and strategic initiatives embedded within the budget.

He further elaborated on the collaborative nature of the budget's creation, noting that while the Minister of Finance presents the budget, it is ultimately the President's vision and priorities that shape its content. "The details and the kind of things that the President has—remember that the budget is for the President, just that the Minister only reads it on his behalf—now, in that budget, clearly the campaign promises in our social contract to the people of this country, we are going to ensure that, step by step, we will deliver on them," he added.

The expectations surrounding the budget are notably high. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is tasked with presenting the financial roadmap in Parliament, and Ghanaians are keenly awaiting potential tax cuts and other fiscal measures. However, some analysts have cautioned that significant tax reductions could pose challenges to the government's revenue mobilization efforts and overall fiscal responsibilities. The balance between fulfilling campaign promises and maintaining fiscal stability will be a critical aspect of the budget's reception.
