Presidency Debunks Rumors of Akume’s Appointment As APC Chairman

The statement clarified that President Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has made no new appointments, and Akume remains the SGF.

The Presidency has dismissed claims that Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has been appointed as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A report had claimed that Akume had emerged as the new APC chairman, while Hadiza Bala Usman was appointed as the new SGF.

However, in a press release issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, the Presidency labeled the reports as fake news and a fabrication of mischief makers.

The statement clarified that President Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has made no new appointments, and Akume remains the SGF.

“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.

“The information circulating about Akume's replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.

“The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news,” the statement read.
