Power has been restored to hundreds of homes following a fire at an electrical substation.

The "small electrical fire" in Albert Road in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, was reported to the utilities supplier National Grid shortly before 16:00 GMT on Sunday.

About 200 homes were left without power for about six hours, National Grid said.

Residents were warned to stay inside and keep their windows and doors shut while the fire was extinguished.

National Grid said engineers had restored electricity supply to all the affected homes in the area by 21:48.
