Pounders, let's discuss the best basketball movies of all time
Happy 4th of July. No matter what plans are for the day, there are only so many hours you can be outdoors. Whether it be beach, lake, river, or pool, it’s hot out there.
So when you need a break, there’s nothing like kicking back in the air condition (it really is hot down here in South Texas), having an ice cold beverage, and enjoying some cinematic escapism.
I wanted to watch Jaws the other night, but as my wife pointed out, not the best movie to watch before heading to the coast for the weekend.
In my world, you can’t go wrong with a good basketball movie. I have loved many over the years, From serious films like Hoosiers and Blue Chips, to more humorous popcorn movies like Semi-Pro or Space Jam.
I’ll admit, sometimes it is the storyline. But overall, I want to see great cinematography as tech on-court play takes focus.
A personal favorite — While Men Can’t Jump. The slow-mo action shots mixed with the hyper-energetic, a decent amount of serious storyline mixed with humor (“I can hear Jimi.”). Does anyone know just how many foods start with the letter Q? This one takes me back to the VHS days.
What recommendations do you all have? And in your opinion, what is the best basketball movie of all time?
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay cool. Have a great holiday if you are celebrating.
