… Urges parents to caution wards

The Ondo State Police Command has disclosed that the activities associated with the celebration of July 7 (7/7) will not be tolerated in the state, advising those planning such to desist.

While emphasising that unlawful gatherings or assemblies will not be allowed in any part of the state, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, warned that cult-related activities will not be permitted.

777 is a day set aside by some cult groups to celebrate what they call ‘cultism day’ as well as to initiate new members and engage in other violent acts.

Lawal, who reeled out the strides of the command under his watch, appealed to parents and guardians to caution their wards against engaging in acts capable of disrupting the peace of the state before, during, and beyond the date.

The police chief, who spoke to newsmen at the police headquarters in the state, emphasised that the use of advanced surveillance systems, digital tracking solutions, and forensic investigative techniques has immensely strengthened the command’s response capacity as well as enhanced its precision in identifying criminal elements.

While stressing that the technological assets are now indispensable in the fight against sophisticated and evolving criminal threats, Lawal maintained that, in line with modern policing demands, the deployment of technology and data-driven tools in operations had also been deepened.

He said: “From dismantling armed robbery and cultist networks to recovering stolen property and livestock worth millions of naira, these achievements reflect not just the dedication of our personnel but also the increasing integration of technology into our policing architecture.

“The deployment of digital surveillance, tracking systems, and forensic tools has significantly enhanced our ability to detect, disrupt, and dismantle criminal activities with greater precision and speed.

“As we consolidate on these gains, I call on all residents to continue to partner with us by providing credible information, staying vigilant, and remaining law-abiding.

“With sustained public cooperation and the continued use of technology in our operations, we can maintain this positive momentum and collectively build a safer, more secure, and peaceful Ondo State for all.”
