The Gombe State Police Command has launched a crackdown on illegal motor parks and unauthorised taxi services within the state metropolis, including the Dadin Kowa motor park.

In a statement issued yesterday, Buhari Abdullahi, the command’s spokesperson, described the action as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to restore order, enhance security, and ensure the safety of passengers.

Abdullahi warned that individuals or groups found engaging in illegal passenger loading or unloading at unauthorised locations or operating unauthorised taxi services would face legal repercussions.

“This includes arrest, prosecution, and possible impoundment of vehicles,” he stated.

He further emphasised that all commercial vehicle operators must use the Ibrahim Hassan Dan-Kwambo Motor Park, which he affirmed as the only officially designated motor park for loading and unloading activities.

“For your safety, do not patronise vehicles at unauthorised locations or taxi cabs without the prescribed paint. We urge all stakeholders in the transport sector to cooperate and comply fully with this directive,” Abdullahi said.

The command also disclosed that security agencies and enforcement bodies have been instructed to monitor compliance and take necessary actions against violators.

Abdullahi encouraged members of the public to report instances of unauthorised loading or unloading to the nearest security formation, reinforcing the importance of public cooperation in maintaining order.
