A combined security team in Edo State has arrested one Yunusa Alhaji Mumini (30) with one single barrel and one life cartridge during forest combing for criminals in the state.

The suspect was arrested by the team, comprising the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Edo State Security Corps, Forest Guards as well as vigilante and hunters at an evil forest in Ahosu on the Benin- Lagos Road.

The forest, it was learnt, is notorious for kidnappers’ hideouts.

The police spokesperson in the state, CSP Moses Yamu, said the operation leading to the arrest of the suspect was led by the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.

He said the security team stormed the ‘evil forest’ on April 26 at Ohosu, along the Benin-Lagos Road for a bush combing operation to arrest criminal elements using the place for criminal activities.

Yamu said in the process, one Yunusa Alhaji Mumini (30), was arrested with a single barrel shot gun, one live cartridge and a cell phone.

He said the forest combing was one of the strategies outlined by the commissioner of police to give the farming populace confidence and to further push the criminals away from the state.

He said the suspect was currently under police investigation.
