Operatives of the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies have embarked on forest combing to dislodge and arrest kidnappers in the state.
Daily Trust reports that the operation, led by the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, was carried out in the forest along the Benin-Sapele Road allegedly being used by the kidnappers to hide victims.
The police had earlier carried out similar exercises in the forest along the Benin-Lagos Road where one suspected kidnapper was arrested with arms and ammunition.
Speaking during the exercise, Agbonika said the exercise was part of the measures adopted by the command to combat crimes and criminalities in the state.
He said the command had declared war on kidnapping and cultism.
