Police arrest 3 in Diaso Anti-Galamsey operations; excavator and weapon retrieved

The Ghana Police Service, through its Special Anti-Galamsey Task Force, has arrested three suspects and seized several pieces of mining equipment during two coordinated operations conducted on Friday, 20th June 2025, at Nikanika and Adeade in the Central Region.

At the Nikanika mining site, although no operators were present at the time of the raid, the task force retrieved one (1) single-barrel shotgun loaded with a cartridge, along with three (3) water pumping machines.

In a related development, the task force extended its operation to Adeade, where three individuals—Prosper Quansah, Chrispin Nartey, and Owusu Gambra—were arrested. The suspects were intercepted with an excavator loaded onto a lowbed trailer.

Items seized at the Adeade site included one (1) SANY excavator, four (4) unregistered Haojin motorbikes, and one (1) lowbed vehicle bearing registration number GN 2136-24.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while all retrieved exhibits have been secured for further processing.
