Surne Bilbao Basket (Liga Endesa) signed 29-year-old American (also Polish passport) 206cm power forward Luke Petrasek (college: Columbia) for the upcoming season. He will be playing alongside fellow American player Darrun Hilliard. Petrasek spent the last four years at Anwil in the Polish OBL league, averaging 11.7ppg, 5.0rpg, and 1.1spg in 39 games last season. He was instrumental in helping his team win the regular season and reach the semifinals. His performance earned him a spot on the Eurobasket.com Polish League All-Domestic Players Team and the Eurobasket.com All-Polish League Second Team. Additionally, Petrasek played 12 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, where he averaged 11.2ppg, 3.7rpg, and 1.3apg.
Nine years ago, he represented Poland at the CIT Championship, winning the title.
Petrasek is a very experienced player. He has played professionally in Germany, Russia (BC Pari Nizhny Novgorod), NBA (Charlotte Hornets), NBA G League (Greensboro Swarm), and NBA Summer League (New Orleans Pelicans).
In 2023, Petrasek's team won the FIBA Europe Cup. He was selected to the Eurobasket.com Polish League All-Imports Team in 2023.
He graduated from Columbia University in 2017 and it'll be his ninth season in pro basketball.
