If you've been waiting for the right time to jump into the remastered Grand Theft Auto trilogy, this is it.

The PlayStation Store has dropped Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition to $23.99, marking the first time this controversial collection has hit such a low price point since launching in November 2021.

The 60% discount brings the price down from its original $59.99 launch tag, making each of the three included games cost roughly eight dollars.

So for less than the original price tag, you can get remastered versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, as well as Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced, which is also on sale as part of Days of Play 2025 through June 11.

When the remastered GTA trilogy launched nearly three years ago, it was met with widespread criticism. Players encountered numerous bugs, graphical glitches, and performance issues that made these beloved classics feel more like rushed cash grabs than carefully crafted remasters.

The backlash was so severe that Rockstar Games had to issue public apologies, change plans, and promise extensive fixes.

Fast forward to today, and the situation has dramatically improved.

Recent patches by Video Games Deluxe (later acquired and turned into Rockstar Australia) have addressed many of the technical problems that plagued the initial release. Frame rates are more stable, textures have been refined, and game-breaking bugs have been squashed.

While it may never reach the polish level of a ground-up remake, the current state of the trilogy is far more playable and enjoyable than what early adopters experienced.

The three games combined offer approximately 67.5 hours of main story gameplay, not counting the countless hours players typically spend exploring the open worlds, completing side missions, or simply causing mayhem in Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas.

The Definitive Edition also includes several quality-of-life improvements that make these 20-year-old games more accessible to modern audiences.

Updated controls bring the gameplay more in line with contemporary standards, while enhanced lighting and weather effects add visual polish that helps these classic worlds feel less dated. The inclusion of 4K resolution support on compatible systems is another welcome addition for those playing on current-generation hardware.

With that said, while future sales are always possible, hitting below $23.99 would represent an unlikely price drop.

Outside of free individual inclusions of each game that's part of the trilogy on PS Plus (it's GTA 3's turn now), this is the lowest you can get these games for the foreseeable future.

Between the combination of extensive patches, rock-bottom pricing, and the approaching gaming drought of summer, especially with Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed to May 26, 2026, this discount is the perfect moment for GTA fans who skipped the troubled launch.
