Philanthropist empowers thousands of Anam indigenes with N100,000 each
A philanthropist and community leader, Chief Raphael Nwabunwanne Okeke, has given out millions of naira to members of Anam People’s Assembly (APA), Lagos State branch as part of efforts aimed at promoting peace among members.
The indigenes who were more than three thousand members were given N100,000 each as a token to promote peace among warring groups.
Speaking at the reunion ceremony of the APA, Lagos branch at Afolabi Primary School, Oshodi, Lagos, the philanthropist said there had been a long standing dispute among the members of APA in the last nine years.
Okeke, who is also an indigene of Anam, expressed delight that his people had reconciled, through his efforts, noting that peace was the only option for progress.
He said the reconciliation meeting was to ensure every Anam indigene in Lagos State is supported, especially in time of difficulties. He used the opportunity to advise Anam youths to learn to accommodate one another, pointing out that the holy book teaches mankind to be his brother’s keeper.
A member of Federal House of Representative, representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in Anambra State, Peter Udogalaya Aniekwe, who is one of the sponsors of the peace and human developmental project, told his people residing in Lagos State to always be peace ambassadors as it is critical to attracting developments to their community.
Anekwe, who used the opportunity to thank the people for voting for him, said he has projects across the 25 wards in the federal constituency with just one year budget.
He explained to his people that 2025 budget has been approved but not released yet, stating that all he did was with one year budgetary allocation, pledging to do more immediately the fund for 2025 budget is released.
In his remarks, the National President of APA, Chief Alex Okonkwo, described the reconciliation as an uncommon achievement for APA, stating that Anam people were known for their hospitality and kind hearted nature.
The newly elected APA chairman, Lagos branch, Mr. Aloysius Aniekwe, reminded members that they have an ongoing building project which should be completed as soon as possible.
He commended Chief Raphael Nwabunwanne Okeke Ezeagbo and his boys for ensuring people came together in happiness.
