Pamela Anderson's Career Renaissance Son Brandon Lee's 'Mission' (EXCL) | In Touch Weekly
is enjoying a huge career resurgence after securing an entirely unexpected SAG nomination for her outstanding work in The Last Showgirl and she’s crediting her devoted son with being her biggest champion and career sidekick bar none, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
“What Brandon has done for Pam cannot be understated,” says the insider, a family friend who also notes that the industry has taken notice and is impressed with the young man’s tenacity. “He’s become a real leader within Pam’s team and an articulate spokesperson on her behalf.”
The once-forgotten blonde bombshell shares two sons with ex-husband : Brandon, 28, and , 27. Brandon has made it his “personal mission” to shatter Hollywood’s preconceived and outdated perception of his talented mom, 57. As an executive producer on The Last Showgirl, Brandon said the SAG nomination “means the culmination of a very long road and a lot of hard work, and the crescendo of an amazing moment that really only marks the beginning for [Pamela].”
“The best part of all this is that he’s doing it for the right reasons: he loves his mother and he’s doing everything he can to help her enjoy this moment in the sun,” the source continues. “Of course, this all started a few years ago when ‘s Pam and Tommy miniseries was released and Brandon really stepped up to make people aware of his mother’s side of the story and the somewhat callous and crude approach that show took to its portrayal of his parents.”
If one were to throw a stone into a red carpet queue line, chances are it’d bloody a nepo baby. It’s rare in Hollywood to see this kind of support go upward – from child to parent – but it’s heartwarming nonetheless and certainly makes Brandon stand out among his A-listers’ kid peers, a fact that’s not lost on a lot of the bigwigs in the industry.
“The whole industry took note of what this guy was doing and now you’re seeing that same phenomenon take hold as Brandon helps to steep Pam’s longshot awards campaign for The Last Showgirl,” the source explains. “What’s amazing in this case is that it’s really working.”
Even though Pamela was snubbed at the Academy Awards, her head is still held high. “No nomination for the Oscar, but I couldn’t even imagine that,” she told Elle after the nominations were released. “I did get a SAG nomination, which is really exciting and … all of this is just unexpected and exciting.”
“I always say the win is in the work,” the Baywatch star added. “I got to do something I really love, and I needed to do that for my soul.”
“Pam shocked the acting world with her SAG nomination,” the source says, “and the thousands of votes she earned from her own fellow union members shows just how much support is out there for her.”
“Cultivating that support, and harnessing it, has been Brandon’s mission, and he’s doing an incredible job on behalf of his mother.”
