Paa Kwesi Schandorf Joins Mahama Administration as Communications Assistant at Goldbod and Media Relations Officer at Lands Ministry
Derrick Schandorf Ayirebi-Acquah, popularly known as Paa Kwesi Schandorf, has joined Ghana’s newly established gold dealership agency, Goldbod.
The former Joy News anchor becomes one of 15 journalists who have secured appointments under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
At Goldbod, the sole state agency mandated to buy, sell, assay, value, and export gold and other precious minerals in Ghana, Schandorf will serve as Communications Assistant. In addition, he will take on the role of Media Relations Officer at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
A multiple BBC Komla Dumor Award nominee, Schandorf expressed gratitude in a Facebook post on Monday, May 26, stating:
“These dual roles reflect my passion for writing, journalism and communications at large, and I’m humbled by the opportunity to contribute to President Mahama’s vision of resetting the country!
“While I owe everything to God, I’m exceptionally grateful to my boss and Goldbod’s CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, for the sheer belief in my competence and for the opportunity to serve our beloved country.”
In his dual role, he is expected to support the Ministry’s media engagement strategy and contribute to strengthening its public communications.
