Oyo trains top officers of 33 LGAs on 2025 budget preparation

The Oyo State Government has begun strategic preparations for the 2025 fiscal year with a comprehensive training programme for top officers of the 33 Local Government Areas in the state.

The four-day training, held at the Local Government Staff Training School, State Secretariat, Ibadan, was designed to align the LGAs’ budgeting processes with the National Chart of Accounts (NCOA), ensuring transparency, accountability, and standardization across all councils.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, commended the proactive steps taken by the current administration, led by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Ojo emphasised that the training reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to good governance and effective service delivery at the grassroots level.

The training is expected to enhance the capacity of local government officials and ensure the timely and accurate preparation of the 2025 budgets in line with national standards.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Prof. Musbau Babatunde, reiterated the administration’s dedication to fostering good governance and harmonized budget practices throughout the state, particularly at the grassroots level.

Also, speaking,the lead consultant, Dr. Ayuba Onifade lauded both ministries for their roles in actualizing the training initiative.

He noted that the programme focused on equipping local government officers with the skills needed to prepare the 2025 budget using a standardized format aligned with the NCOA.
