Orange Beach 6-foot-6 TE reacts to Alabama offer: 'My grandfather is yelling Roll Tide from heaven'
Lee Steele added an offer from Alabama football after visiting the Crimson Tide and talking with their tight end coaches.
Steele is a product of Orange Beach High School in Orange Beach, Alabama, and he is a 2028 recruit.
The rising sophomore considers his offer from the Crimson Tide to be special in more ways than one.
“It is an honor for the most historic football program in college history to offer me,” Steeles said. “I’m extremely grateful and excited to have a chance to contribute one day to another National Championship. My grandfather is yelling Roll Tide Roll from heaven. All I could think about was how proud he would be for me to be a part of this great university.”
The 6-foot-6 prospect has the potential to grow into an impressive tight-end prospect. His size will allow him to be a mismatch against smaller defensive backs and the way he is able to move will make him challenging for linebackers to cover. Steele feels these were traits that led to his Alabama offer.
“I think my frame and mobility was something they liked, and they also saw my basketball highlights,” Steele told Touchdown Alabama.
Steele’s visit also included time with Alabama basketball as he recently impressed the Tide’s head basketball coach Nate Oats while competing at a team camp.
“I loved meeting coach Oats,” said Steele. “What a dream week here at Bama. I just prayed before the games that God would open doors that he wanted me to follow and close doors that weren’t for his glory. I love Alabama basketball too.”
