Operation Sindhu: India Evacuates Citizens from Iran Amidst Challenges

Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, India has launched 'Operation Sindhu' to evacuate its citizens from Iran, reaffirming its commitment to the safety and well-being of its nationals abroad. The first phase of this critical rescue mission saw 110 Indian students successfully evacuated, arriving in Delhi early on Thursday morning. These students had previously been relocated from northern Iran, crossing over into Armenia on June 17, and then departing from the Armenian capital of Yerevan on a special flight.
For over 100 Indian students, particularly those from Urmia Medical University, the launch of Operation Sindhu brought immense relief after a period of significant anxiety and apprehension. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Indian diplomatic missions in Iran and Armenia closely supervised their overland journey to Yerevan before their flight to India. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the commencement of the evacuation mission via social media, emphasizing India's highest priority on the security of its citizens.
The current geo-political turmoil, triggered by the Israel-Iran crisis that began on June 13, has already resulted in hundreds of casualties in Iran and significant infrastructure damage, including disruptions to Middle Eastern airspace and travel. Some evacuees recounted harrowing experiences, describing a chaotic atmosphere in Tehran and even witnessing
