Immaculate Atieno Were, the young daughter of the late MP, took the microphone from her brother with great boldness and strength to pay her last respects to her beloved father.

Donning a black dress and shades, the young lady said her dad used to call her baby or Nyaboro's daughter.

She started reciting her poem, which notes her father is a face that is always on her mind and a smile dear to her heart.

She noted how he tried to fight his final battle and fought to stay with them after being shot.

Atieno said a million pieces went through her heart and shared how she would remember her dad through videos and her speed dial.

Atieno was overwhelmed with emotion as she noted how her dad was to come to school and pray for her success in the upcoming exams, something that will now never happen.

She promised to work hard and push to succeed, adding that her dad was her guardian angel.

Her poem read:

"Dear dad,
"A face that is always on my mind, A smile I have seen a million times"
"Two eyes, that would light up the sky at night, One last battle you could not fight"
"To stay with us you fought so hard, A million pieces went my heart"
"Now a photo I look at to see your smile, I keep your number on speed dial"
"A video I watch to hear your voice, This I do but I have no choice"
"But great memories I will always keep with me, Your love is in my heart for eternity"
"I never got to say goodbye, To understand why, but I can try "
"We had a date that we both looked forward to July that is my school prayer day"
"You were to come pray for my success in the coming exams"
"It never happened dad, I promise to work hard Determined to succeed"
"Because you my dad is my, guardian angel now who will watch over me."
