One of the weirdest Xbox Game Pass games of all time is getting a sequel, and I'm all for it

has been announced with the sequel to the over-the-top first-person shooter set to arrive this winter as a day one Xbox Game Pass game. High on Life 2 was always to be expected after the runaway success of the first game. The original High on Life earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its release, but its over-the-top, Rick and Morty-style sci-fi humor and its availability as a day one Xbox Game Pass game made it a fan favorite.

The original High on Life was a massive success on Xbox Game Pass. It broke Xbox Game Pass records at the time, with many subscribers using the service to check it out. Considering how big High on Life was on Xbox Game Pass, it should really come as no surprise that the sequel is going to be landing on the service on the very day of its release.

High on Life Releases Update 4

High on Life's latest update has just been released, which addresses more of the quirky sci-fi title's technical issues and adds new graphics modes.

High on Life 2 is launching this winter for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X as a day one Xbox Game Pass game. High on Life 2 returning characters including the chatty weapons from the original game, including Gus, Sweezy, Creature, and Knifey, who will be joined by some brand-new characters. The High on Life 2 trailer showed the player character utilizing a flamethrower tortoise, a skateboard, dual-wield pistols, a skateboard, and a bow and arrow against a variety of bizarre alien creatures - including one that looked suspiciously like Silent Hill's Pyramid Head. If the trailer is any indication, High on Life 2 will deliver more of the same whacky action as the first game, but on a larger scale.

Of course, the original High on Life extensively featured the voice work of Justin Roiland, the one-time head of developer Squanch Games. Roiland's legal controversies saw him step away from Squanch Games, and so it's safe to assume that he will not be returning for the sequel. It's unclear who exactly will be replacing Roiland for High on Life 2's returning characters, and it remains to be seen who will be voicing the new weapons and gadgets as well.

The original High on Life featured an ensemble cast with Justin Roiland joined by the likes of Jennifer Hale, J.B. Smoove, and Tim Robinson, among others. With High on Life 2 coming this winter, more information on the comedic first-person shooter game's cast and gameplay should come to light sooner rather than later.
