ODM MP Accuses Sifuna of Working With Gachagua Secretly and Reveals Their Future Plans

Published 3 weeks ago2 minute read

Trouble is brewing within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following remarks by the party's Nairobi branch chairperson, George Aladwa, on Sunday, suggesting that Secretary General Edwin Sifuna could be ousted for disloyalty.

Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi on Saturday, Aladwa accused Sifuna of being a mole within the party alleging that he had shown intentions of aligning with opposing voices.

The Makadara MP further noted that ODM had previously seen powerful Secretary Generals who eventually exited after straying from the party’s principles.

''I want to warn Sifuna who refers to himself as the Secretary General of ODM that we have had many SGs who were way powerful like Ababu Namwamba and the rest. Even him, he will go the way Ababu did,'' Aladwa stated.

Aladwa’s comments came in response to recent remarks by the Nairobi Senator who stated that he would not support President William Ruto in the 2027 elections, even if the ODM party decided to back him.

Speaking during a national television interview, Sifuna emphasised that not even the party’s Nairobi leadership under Aladwa’s tenure could persuade him to support Ruto.

Aladwa, in his response, asked the Senator to refrain from mentioning him, alleging that Sifuna's days as a Senator were numbered.

''He should completely stay away from me. I have seen him throwing tantrums at me and I want to tell him that his days as the Senator are equally numbered,'' Aladwa stated.

Gachagua's 'Mole'?

Aladwa further accused Sifuna of secretly working with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua behind the scenes.

His remarks followed Sifuna’s recent appearance at a church service in Kawangware, where he was in the company of opposition figures Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa—both of whom have previously expressed willingness to collaborate with Gachagua.

According to the Makadara MP, Sifuna was being positioned as the preferred candidate for Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat under a party aligned with Gachagua.

''He is being used by Gachagua, even during the impeachment of the former DP, he brought us a lot of trouble. He just voted because people were voting and we know that he is their preferred candidate for the Governor's seat here in Nairobi,'' Aladwa alleged.
