The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has passed a vote of confidence vote in Edo first female Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin. 

He charged her to remain focused in crime fighting and prevention.

He spoke in Benin when he received the new police commissioner in his palace on Friday. 

The first-class monarch prayed God Almighty and his ancestors would make Edo state and Nigeria peaceful for the security personnel and other Nigerians.

He also prayed for Otimenyin to rise to the top in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and for God and the ancestors to give her the wisdom to discharge her duties diligently.

Oba of Benin said: “We are so pleased with you. We are seeing the good works that you are doing in Edo State. May God and our ancestors empower you to do more. 

“We look forward to your rising. We will keep praying for you. May Edo be peaceful for you, your men and all of us. The palace and the throne are behind you.”

The Edo commissioner of police solicited prayers from the great Benin throne, while describing the deployment to her state of origin as a homecoming.

Otimenyin, who was accompanied by Edo Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ben Abang, and other senior officers in the command, assured the foremost traditional ruler that she would continue to put in her best.
