Nurses pivotal to addressing Nigeria's healthcare challenges -IUTH CMD

The Chief Medical Director, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH) Edo State, Dr. Ya’u Abubakar Gagarawa, has restated the institution’s commitment to training qualified nurses pivotal to addressing the healthcare needs of the country.

Dr. Gagarawa spoke on Thursday during the Matriculation ceremony of the College of Nursing Sciences, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH) Okada, Edo State.

The Chief Medical Director urged all matriculating students in the College of Nursing Sciences to take their studies seriously and pursue excellence in the nursing profession.

He noted that all students must adhere to the code of conduct of the institution and the established code of conduct for nursing students.

The CMD said Igbinedion University has supported the College of Nursing Sciences, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital Okada, to ensure academic excellence and delivery of world-class health workers.

He urged the matriculating nursing students to utilize the state-of-the-art facilities in the health institution and the university to learn and become healthcare professionals.

In his speech, Vice Chancellor, Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye said all programmes of the College of Nursing in the institution have full accreditation.

He assured the College of Nursing of support at all times, saying the Igbinedion University and the Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH) are partners in progress.

In her remarks, Provost College of Nursing Sciences Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH) Okada, Mrs. Antonia Anyadufu charged the matriculating students of the 2024/2025 academic session on hard work to earn their certification as qualified nurses.

The provost tasked the students to maintain a tidy and professional appearance that reflects the seriousness of the profession.

Earlier, Director of Nursing Services, Ministry of Health Edo State, Aliu Nurudeen delivered the IUTH Matriculation lecture titled, ” Effective Learning Strategies in Nursing: Exploring Different Learning Techniques, Time Management And Note-taking Skills in Nigeria Profession.”
