NUGA 2025: Mutfwang pledges adequate logistics, security
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has assured his administration’s provision of adequate security and logistical support during and after the upcoming Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA 2025) to ensure a successful hosting of the tournament.
He added that to promote youth engagement through sports, he is ready to develop sports infrastructure and improve economic activities across the state.
The governor spoke on Thursday while receiving a delegation of Royal CBS Group, led by its Chairman, Mr. Khalifah Onu, the prime consultant for the forthcoming NUGA competition.
“We will ensure a secure and enabling environment for athletes and officials. Our goal is not only to successfully host the event but also to use it as a platform to promote hospitality, and position Plateau as a hub for sports tourism,” the governor said.
According to him, the state is already in touch with the University of Jos to facilitate preparations and ensure the smooth execution of the games.
“I guarantee you that we are committed to working with all stakeholders to deliver on this mandate and transform sports into a tool for youth empowerment,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang also assured that the state government will provide financial support and collaborate with partners to showcase the tournament as a platform for Nigerian youths to compete and excel at national and global levels.
He further disclosed that discussions are ongoing to build synergy among relevant departments and agencies, and that he has directed the General Manager, Plateau State Tourism Corporation, to lead efforts towards delivering successful outcomes from the games.
The Chairman, Royal CBS Group, Onu, in his response, commended the governor for the support and his readiness to provide an enabling environment for the successful hosting of the games.
According to him, the games will not only succeed but also align with the current administration’s vision for youth empowerment through sports.
