El-Kanemi Warriors have officially announced a new technical crew following the departure of head coach Aliyu Zubairu, whose two-year contract with the Borno Army has expired.
In a swift replacement, the Maiduguri-based club has appointed Mohammed Kalli Kachalla as the new chief coach. Supporting him on the sidelines will be Ibrahim Imam and Ishaq Hussaini Goni as assistant coaches, while Hussaini Yusuf and Usman Mohammed take over goalkeeping duties.
Meanwhile, Kano Pillars are making moves to secure the services of coach Stanley Eguma, currently in talks with Enyimba over a potential contract extension.
Eguma, who joined the Aba giants midway through last season after the dismissal of Yemi Olanrewaju, remains undecided about his future.
Reports indicate that the Sai Masu Gida are eager to hijack the experienced tactician amid their continued search for a new manager following Usman Abdallah’s resignation last month. Plateau United are also reportedly monitoring Eguma’s situation closely.
In the same vein, Shooting Stars has resumed preparations after a post-season break.
Under the guidance of technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote, the team has begun training at the Awolowo Stadium, University of Ibadan.
Ogunbote charged the players to prepare for the challenges of the upcoming campaign as they aim to improve on their eighth-place finish last season.
Similarly, Promise Awosanmi is poised for a fresh chapter in his career following the expiration of his contract with Sunshine Stars.
Reports indicate that the talented midfielder is drawing interest from several top Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sides, including former champions Rangers.
Cup finalists Shooting Stars and Kwara United are also reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
Awosanmi stood out during the 2024–25 NPFL season, delivering consistent performances despite Sunshine Stars’ relegation. He scored five goals in 21 appearances, showcasing his attacking prowess and work rate from midfield.
The 23-year-old joined Sunshine Stars in 2021 from Akure City FC and has grown into one of the club’s key players.
The 2025/26 season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 22.
