In a move designed to strengthen tourism, enhance connectivity, and position Zagreb as a central travel hub, the airline, in collaboration with Zagreb Airport, marked the milestone with a celebratory launch ceremony on Tuesday.

This strategic expansion is part of Croatia Airlines’ ambitious Summer 2025 flight schedule, with the new seasonal services set to run through the end of October. The routes aim to offer travelers more flexibility, better connections, and a streamlined gateway to Germany, Romania, Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic—nations with strong tourism ties and growing demand for direct air access to Croatia.

The inaugural flight from Hamburg landed in Zagreb just after noon, greeted with enthusiasm by dignitaries, aviation partners, and tourism officials. Representatives from Germany, Romania, Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic were present, symbolizing the importance of this expansion for international cooperation and cultural exchange. Shortly after, the Zagreb to Bucharest route launched, with Milan, Madrid, and Prague services scheduled to follow in quick succession.

These additions represent far more than seasonal tourism boosts. They are part of a long-term strategy to expand Croatia’s footprint in European aviation. For each of the connected cities, Croatia Airlines is offering not only convenience but also direct access to one of Europe’s most scenic and rising destinations.

Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, welcomed the development, calling Croatia Airlines a strategic partner and adding that the airline’s growing international presence is elevating Zagreb’s global tourism profile. The five new destinations are part of a wider growth trajectory for Croatia Airlines in 2025. This summer, the airline is operating on a record fifty-five international routes, serving thirty destinations across thirty-one European airports. Out of those, twenty-three routes are anchored in Zagreb, reinforcing its role as the primary aviation hub of the country.

Between April and October, over eighteen thousand two hundred flights are scheduled, reflecting a seven percent increase in operations compared to 2024. This steady growth underscores the airline’s focus on expanding access and meeting increasing travel demand.

These routes not only improve leisure travel options but also facilitate business relations, academic exchange, and diplomatic engagement.
