Northern elders caution on Natasha/Akpabio imbroglio - Blueprint Newspapers Limited
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has said it is closely monitoring the unfolding conflict in the Senate between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central senatorial district, and called for caution in the ongoing investigation.
A statement by the spokesperson of NEF, Professor Abubakar Jika Jiddere, Wednesday, said the body is deeply concerned that at a time when there is a global push for inclusiveness and respect for fundamental human rights, no senator, irrespective of sex, should be subjected to public intimidation and mistreatment.
NEF frowned at the row between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio, saying it is completely unacceptable.
NEF expressed its disappointment over alleged abuse of privileged position to embarrass a fellow senator within the Senate, saying such conduct undermines the integrity of the Senate and sets a dangerous precedent.
