The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine rolls on this weekend with one of the most important days coming on Sunday when the offensive linemen group hit the field. Offensive linemen is the biggest areas of focus for the Chicago Bears this offseason as they look to upgrade and improve a group that allowed a league-high 68 sacks on quarterback Caleb Williams, putting him under duress for majority of his rookie season.

With new head coach Ben Johnson, the Bears are getting a coach who has been praised for his offensive mind and one who takes the offensive line very seriously. After the Kansas City Chiefs announced they would use their non-exclusive franchise tag on pending free agent offensive guard Trey Smith, the plans for Chicago have changed and they'll have to shift their focus to other avenues both through free agency and the 2025 NFL draft in April.

There is no important upgrade needed than the interior offensive line, and one of the draft's top prospects as an interior offensive lineman revealed he's met with the team already. North Dakota State's Grey Zabel has been a riser up draft boards and heads into the NFL combine after a strong performance at the Senior Bowl in February, and told reporters he met with the Bears this weekend and also praised the young quarterback they have cemented in Williams.

"It went well. They're a really talented football team," Zabel said. "I love their QB, love watching him play and make plays. I'm training with a buddy who played with him at USC, so being able to watch his highlights and understand how special his talents are is pretty cool."

Projected to be a potential late first- or early second-round pick, Zabel has versatility that could see him playing the offensive guard or center position in the NFL. With the Bears needing to address both guards and center position, Zabel is an intriguing prospect for fans to monitor when the draft comes around in April, as he could fit in right away upon arriving in Chicago.

Loving the team's quarterback will serve him well to immediate team chemistry if Zabel were to be drafted by the Bears.
