Nipsey Hussle‘s ex-girlfriend was shut down in her effort to terminate the guardianship of her 16-year-old daughter, , following an emotional court battle, but she did reach a deal with his family, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Tanisha and Nipsey’s brother , who runs the late musician’s estate, went to court on February 25, one day before a scheduled trial in the matter.

Per court minutes, the judge denied Tanisha’s petition to end Emani’s guardianship. Nipsey’s family was awarded guardianship of Emani after he was killed on March 31, 2019, at the age of 33. However, the minute order said the judge reviewed a “written agreement” by the parties.

The judge said he helped modify the language in the agreement for the parties. A hearing has been set for later this month where the judge will review the finalized agreement. The trial date was vacated.

As In Touch first reported, Tanisha and Sam have been going back and forth in court for years. The family claimed they were better fit to take care of Emani and said they had concerns about the child living with Tanisha.

Tanisha said she initially agreed to the guardianship but filed documents in 2022 to terminate it, according to The Blast.

The outlet said Tanisha filed a declaration explaining she felt Nipsey’s family had broken promises to her.

Tanisha’s lawyer wrote, in court documents obtained by the outlet, “Tanisha’s motivation for doing so was in recognition of her own financial limitations; her desire to maintain the standard of living and family contact the minor had experienced with the paternal family prior to her father’s death; and upon the verbal assurances that each of them would act in the best interests of Emani.”

Tanisha’s lawyer accused Nipsey’s family of using “their financial position and influence to disregard their priorities by controlling the desires of Emani and Tanisha by withholding financial assistance and reducing visitation.”

“There are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me for regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship,” Tanisha allegedly wrote in a declaration. “Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”

As In Touch first reported, last month, Tanisha rushed to court demanding Sam be ordered to appear for a deposition. Her request was denied by the court.

The order read, “The Court finds that insufficient evidence has been provided to grant the matter on calendar this date based upon the reading of the moving papers and consideration of all presented evidence.”

Nipsey left behind Emani and a son named Kross, 8, who he had with . In court documents, Sam revealed Nipsey left behind an estate worth more than $17 million.

This week, Sam opened Marathon Burger restaurant in Los Angeles. Nipsey ran the successful Marathon Clothing during his lifetime.
