According to the statement, the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) will continue with its regular schedule throughout the Eid-al-Kabir holiday, but with additional coaches to cater to the increased number of passengers.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced special train services and additional trips to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger demand across its major routes, in preparation for the upcoming Eid-al-Kabir celebrations.

According to a press release issued by the NRC on Wednesday and signed by Callistus Unyimadu, Acting Deputy Director, Public Relations, an extra trip has been added to the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) for Thursday, June 5, aimed at easing commuter flow for travellers celebrating the festive period.

The NRC also announced a Special Eid Train Service on the Warri–Itakpe route, which will run on Thursday, June 5 — a day usually reserved for routine maintenance. The corporation added that it has shifted its maintenance activities for the Warri-Itakpe corridor to Sunday, June 8, 2025, to ensure uninterrupted service.

According to the statement, the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) will continue with its regular schedule throughout the Eid-al-Kabir holiday, but with additional coaches to cater to the increased number of passengers.

The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, extended his best wishes to all passengers celebrating Eid and reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to safe and efficient railway operations.

The statement read, "In response to the increased passenger demand during the festive period, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has added an extra trip to its Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) for Thursday, 5th June 2025:

"Lagos to Ibadan: 8:00 AM; 1:55 PM (Additional Trip); 4:00 PM

Ibadan to Lagos: 8:00 AM; 11:03 AM (Additional Trip); 4:46 PM (Note: The 4:00 PM train will now depart at 4:46 PM).

"Additionally, in the spirit of Eid-al-Kabir and to ensure smooth travel for Muslim faithful and other passengers on the Warri-Itakpe corridor, the NRC will operate a Special Train Service on Thursday, 5th June 2025, which would ordinarily be a non-operational day reserved for maintenance.

"Consequently, routine maintenance activities originally scheduled for Thursday have been rescheduled to Sunday, June 8, 2025.”

"The normal Abuja-Kaduna (AKTS) will run as scheduled, with additional coaches attached to accommodate more passengers,” the statement added.
