The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, conveyed the condolences in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja.

The Nigerian government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Zambia following the passing of former President, Edgar Lungu.

Tuggar described Lungu as a leader who dedicated his life to the service of his country and the African continent. 

He highlighted Lungu's unwavering commitment to promoting regional integration and cooperation, as well as his efforts to enhance the welfare and prosperity of the Zambian people. 

"President Lungu was a stalwart leader who worked tirelessly to advance the interests of his country and the African continent," Tuggar said. 

The Minister prayed for the eternal repose of Lungu's soul and commiserated with the government and people of Zambia, as well as his bereaved family, during this difficult period. 

He prayed that Lungu's legacy would continue to inspire future generations of Africans to strive for excellence and unity.

 "May his legacy continue to inspire future generations of Africans to strive for excellence and unity," Tuggar added.

Zambians said Lungu's leadership and contributions to development would be remembered for years to come. 

His dedication to public service and his commitment to the welfare of his people are qualities that earned him respect both at home and abroad.
