Nigeria Declares Public Holidays for Easter
The federal government has announced Friday, April 18th, and Monday, April 21st, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Christians throughout Nigeria on behalf of the federal government.
In a statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, Tunji-Ojo underscored the significance of embracing the virtues of sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ's death for the redemption of humanity. He urged Nigerians to reflect on these values during the Easter period.
Furthermore, the Minister called upon all citizens to utilize the holiday to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the nation. He reassured the public of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's unwavering dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to promote national growth and development across various sectors.
Tunji-Ojo also encouraged Nigerians to demonstrate love and goodwill towards their neighbors through acts of kindness and generosity, fostering a spirit of community and togetherness during the Easter celebrations.
