We were lucky enough to be invited to the Niagara Falls Comic Con this weekend and I was delighted as the legendary Michael Ironside was there; in case you’ve lived under a rock he has started in Total Recall, Top Gun, Starship Troopers, V: The Series, Extreme Prejudice, Scanners, Highlander 2, Turbo Kid and many, many more.

Unlike other Comic Cons you actually get to have a good chat with the celebrities there; first of all Michael was asking about my name and where I was from and it ends up he has family from Aberdeenshire where my grandfather was from. I then asked him what it was like to work with Walter Hill on Extreme Prejudice as it remains one of my favourite films. he said “Walter is a friend. He’s mostly a teddy bear and quite soft spoken… until something goes wrong, then he’s a fucking volcano.” He then went on to discuss working with Powers Boothe, Nick Nolte and the rest of the cast and said he loved working on it and it’s one of his favourite movies too.

He was laughing and joking away with everyone in the lineup and was very relaxed. I don’t normally go for autographs but I couldn’t resists and had him right “See you at the party” because of course!
