NFL Insider: Atlanta Falcons Fielding Trade Inquiries for Kyle Pitts

The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly receiving calls from other NFL teams interested in acquiring tight end Kyle Pitts. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, while the Falcons are not actively seeking to trade Pitts, they are open to listening to offers. Schefter indicated that a sufficiently compelling offer could persuade Atlanta to part with the former top-five draft pick.
Kyle Pitts entered the NFL with considerable hype, having been selected by the Falcons as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida. His collegiate career was highlighted by an All-American senior season where he also finished in the top ten for Heisman Trophy voting, showcasing a unique blend of a wide receiver's skills and speed in a tight end's physique.
Pitts made an immediate impact in his rookie season, earning a Pro Bowl selection and accumulating over 1,000 receiving yards. However, his subsequent seasons have not matched this initial success, with his sophomore year being described as a "dud" and his performance in the following two seasons considered pedestrian.
Despite showing flashes of the athletic talent that made him a high draft pick, Pitts has not consistently reached his full potential with the Falcons. A change of scenery is considered a potential catalyst for the 24-year-old to revitalize his career. He is currently in the final year of his rookie contract and will become a free agent in the 2026 offseason.
A significant factor in any potential trade is Pitts' $11 million salary for the upcoming year. Schefter noted that this financial commitment, combined with the trade compensation the Falcons would expect, might deter many teams, especially as Pitts is nearing the end of his contract. This situation draws parallels to that of Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is also reportedly in trade discussions and carries a substantial contract, complicating Atlanta's efforts to move either player.
