Network Norfolk : Norwich church hears about hospital chaplains' work
Rev Adrian Woodbridge from NNUHFT Spiritual Healthcare has spoken about the invaluable work that he and the team of chaplains do at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and beyond.
He was speaking at Servant’s Church, Hillcrest Chapel in Thorpe St Andrew, Snack ‘n’ Chat event on May 15. Attendees - both congregants of Servant’s Church and local residents - were encouraged to hear about the work that goes on among the patients, staff and visitors of Norfolk’s largest hospital.
Explaining NNUHFT Spiritual Healthcare’s strapline - “we are here to offer compassionate care and spiritual support to all; to be alongside people through life’s experiences”- lead chaplain Adrian talked about some ways in which he and the team come alongside people during what can be difficult and painful times. Sometimes a word of encouragement, a prayer, a helping hand, or simply just being there, are ways to be Jesus’s hands and feet in those seasons.
Chris Morgan of Servant’s Church said: “Adrian’s talk about Hospital Chaplaincy was particularly interesting for me as a retired nurse. I saw how valuable this service was when my husband was in hospital - he found it very comforting to be visited by the team. I enjoy going to snack ‘n’ chat very much. It is a friendly group, and we have some very interesting talks and lunch.”
Snack ‘n’ Chat which runs between 12pm-1:30pm, is a free, monthly event open to all - a short presentation is shared, and a light lunch is enjoyed. The aim is fellowship, encouragement and the building up of the Christian body locally and further afield. Speakers have included Friends International, Green Pastures Christian Bookshop and Operation Christmas Child, as well as members of the congregation who have blessed us with presentations on their home countries or on certain missionaries.
Upcoming Snack ‘n’ Chat events are: The Gospel to Gen Z - a talk by Youth Worker Christian Brown on how God is moving among the youth of 2025 (Thursday June 19) and Evangelism in Asia - ‘Christianity Explored Ministries’ worker Katie will share about her work on evangelism (Thursday July 17).
Snack ‘n’ Chat will then pause for August before resuming in September. For more information, please contact Annie Vaca at
