The Adamawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made strides in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
According to the State Commander, CN Agboalu Femi, in 2024, a total of 4,880.70745 kilograms of illicit substances were seized and 536 offenders arrested, including 518 men and 18 women.
He said the confiscated substances included a wide range of drugs, such as cannabis sativa, tramadol, diazepam, and codeine-laced cough syrups, highlighting the evolving challenges of drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
The state commander explained that the command also achieved impressive results in the courtroom, securing 148 convictions in 2024, with sentences ranging from three months to 25 years.

Additionally, they admitted 52 clients for counseling and rehabilitation, with 40 successfully completing the programme.
Abgoulu reiterated that public awareness campaigns were also a major focus, reaching over 85,000 individuals through 142 programmes conducted in schools, workplaces, communities and faith-based institutions.
He noted that the command had also disrupted the financial operations of drug traffickers, achieving the interim forfeiture of four vehicles used in drug trafficking and N1,207,268 in monetary exhibits, which were deposited into the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
“The fight against drug abuse is a collective responsibility. Together, we can create a safer, healthier and more prosperous Adamawa State,” he stated.
