The new platform, “Propel Reprotection System,” is a tech-powered solution designed to help Nigerian airlines protect passengers during flight disruptions by transferring them to available flights on partner airlines. This ensures no revenue loss for carriers while ensuring passenger satisfaction.
NCAA Director General, Captain Chris Najomo, stated that the solution which he said is a product of collaboration between three industry leaders will boost efficiency in air travel through coordination and funding. Najomo who was represented by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, at a stakeholder event held in Lagos this week, said: “The Minister wants flight disruptions reduced to the barest minimum. In this industry, the passenger is the reason every other stakeholder exists. They are entitled to better services in accordance with global best standards. The DGCA, Capt. Chris Najomo, is a staunch protector of consumer rights, which is why we proudly introduce the PROPEL solution by Aero Assist Hub. If they secure your buy-in, which I hope they do, we may make history by solving one of aviation’s most critical challenges in Nigeria,” he said.
The NCAA confirmed that the solution is already gained buy-in from domestic carriers and that they are currently in discussions with the promoters for integration. Once implemented, it is expected to reduce flight delays, ensure seamless travel and restore confidence in Nigerian airlines.
With a pilot rollout scheduled for August, the promoters believe the system will be a game-changer for Nigeria’s aviation sector. The Managing Director of Aero Assist Hub, Mr. Olumide Ojutalayo, said: “Our goal is to finally resolve Nigeria’s chaotic flight disruption problem. We’re not just proposing an idea, we’re also providing financial backing. Many airlines operate on thin margins, and disruptions strain their cash flow. This solution eases that burden while improving service. We aim to launch the pilot in weeks and deliver real solutions for Nigerian passengers.”
