In a new twist to the story, Adelle now says she lost two phones and a total of KSh 56,000 through fraudulent transactions on her mobile money account.

"In my phone, I had KSh 42,000 while my purse had about KSh 14,000, but when my purse was given back, it only had KSh 2,500," she narrated.

Adelle added that the withdrawal was made in the Mwembe Tayari area near the Mash office and was traced to a phone number registered under the name ‘Ramadhan.’

The incident took place on the night of April 14, when Adelle boarded a Mash Bus and took seat number 37.

According to her account, the man assigned the seat beside her initially sat elsewhere before eventually returning to his assigned spot.

She described him as a middle-aged man who wore a black cap, a bomber jacket, a black t-shirt, jeans, and sports shoes.

During a stop at Mtito Andei, the man left the bus briefly and came back carrying two cups of tea.

“He kept pouring tea on me and insisted I help him hold the cups,” she recalled. That was the last moment she was conscious.

Adelle later woke up at Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, surrounded by three of her friends who had rushed to her side.

They informed her that she had passed out on the bus and had been brought to the hospital by the conductor. Her phone, ID, and other personal items were missing.

At the time, she was not aware of the full extent of what had happened until she renewed her mobile number and discovered that cash had been transferred from her M-Pesa account.

The emotional toll of the incident deepened when Adelle got home and began to inspect her belongings. That’s when she realised her underwear was missing.

“I called my friends to inquire whether the medics had taken swabs on me to make sense of the missing underwear,” she said, fearing she may have been assaulted while unconscious.

However, there was no confirmation from the hospital staff regarding any such procedures being carried out.

Despite reporting the matter to the authorities and obtaining an Occurrence Book (OB) number from Central Police Station, the investigation has stalled due to a lack of cooperation from key institutions.

Adelle says both Coast General Hospital and Mash Bus Company have shown reluctance in assisting with the case.

Mash Bus Company reportedly claimed that the man who sat next to her did not provide his details while booking the ticket, leaving no trail to trace him.

Adelle has maintained that she is not blaming the bus company or the hospital for what happened, but is deeply frustrated by their lack of support in uncovering the truth.
