N'Golo Kante: Former Chelsea Star Visits Family in Mali, Buys Lush House
Kante was spotted in Bamako as the midfielder visited his family in the Malian capital. In a video posted online, the 2018 World Cup winner went about his business humbly as usual.
Kante was born to Malian parents who migrated to France in 1980. He lost his father when he had just turned 11 years old and his older sibling Niama to a heart attack shortly before the 2018 World Cup.
Mali approached him to switch allegiances just before the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations but he declined.
"It's impossible to overlook a player of such quality and we've already approached his representatives. Kante will add a lot to any country but my big hope is that it will be the national team of Mali," said then-Mali boss Alain Giresse as quoted by BBC Sports.
It is not the first time has visited the West African capital. He was also there in 2022 where he visited the graves of his father and brother and applied for a Malian ID.
The 2021 Champions League winner with Chelsea also reportedly bought a big house for his family.
Fans have taken to social media to react to the Al-Ittihad star's visit.
@Roseangel said,
"Simplicity defines N'Golo Kante 's life. Wait, where are the security personnel?
If Kante is from Naija you will see at least a security man standing by his side even while taking pic, not leaving his side for a second."
@MphoMolote said,
"The most humble rich footballer you can find. Sadio Mané included."
@AbidoShaker said,
"Bro knows what he's doing. He is confusing village people"
While Adenkamni said,
"The guy's lifestyle is just beyond simple. I've not seen someone like him before all my life."
Kante has been known for leading a modest life his whole career despite raking in lots of money from his talent.
Goal reports that Kante earns approximately 520,814 USD per week which is approximately 67 million Kenya Shillings.
His former teammate at Chelsea Kai Havertz previously opened up on Kante's demeanour and lifestyle.
"There’s an image of footballers, all fancy and diamonds and this and that. I have met players who spend so much on things where you think: ‘Why do you do this?’ There are players who don’t care but others do. It’s not always about saying: ‘I did this.’ That’s sometimes a bit fake," he told the Guardian.
"I’ve met different characters. Toni Kroos is one: calm, down to earth, doesn’t care about flashy stuff. He knows life is not only football. N’Golo Kante is another. He’s had the same phone for 10 years, doesn’t care about cars, doesn’t care about clothes."
