SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Multiple Siouxland agencies have come together to provide assistance to the victims of Tuesday night’s apartment fire in Sioux City.

The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and the Community Action Agency of Siouxland set up a multi-agency resource center at St. Mark Lutheran Church in the Morningside area. There, victims can get financial assistance, food, clothing, furniture, hygiene products and advice on what comes next.

“It is a traumatic moment,” Robert Inouye with the American Red Cross said. “It’s providing that help, that hope and that comfort to them. It is a very gratifying feeling to be able to be there and listen and talk to them and just kind of help them process their next steps.”

The church has also had about a dozen people staying there since the night of the fire. Of the 21 units affected by the fire, 16 cases have been opened up for assistance.

The Red Cross is going to stay at the church until all the victims have found new housing.
