Mother charged with selling explicit videos of her own children
A mother was charged with recording explicit content involving her three underage children and selling the material to the AfroIntroductions website.
The woman was on Thursday charged before a Mombasa court with 13 counts related to child pornography and money laundering.
She was charged with distributing explicit images involving her son, aged four and her daughters, aged eight and 14.
Her mobile phone allegedly contained obscene images of her three minors. The middle-aged woman denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Gladys Olimo.
It is alleged that the woman used the AfroIntroductions website operated by Cupid Media Company to distribute the explicit materials on her WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams and Telegram platforms.
She also faces a charge of exposing the children to sexual abuse and exploitation through producing, possessing and distributing sexually explicit materials involving her.
The woman was also charged with supplying and displaying sex toys, pornographic films and other materials.
The suspect was also charged with receiving and soliciting money payments in return for sexually explicit content and offers of sex acts involving her children.
The woman is accused of knowingly and intentionally publishing obscene spreading obscene images of the said minors on various digital platforms, including WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, and a pornographic website. According to the charge sheet, she allegedly used her mobile phone to upload the minors’ explicit images dated between January 1, 2022 and June 1, 2025. The Prosecution opposed the release of her on bond, citing the serious nature of the offences, the vulnerability of the victims and the risk of interference with ongoing investigations.
The prosecution said the phone was subject to forensic analysis to extract digital forensic evidence linking her phone and online activity to the distribution of the illegal content.
They said the crime was of transnational nature with ongoing cross-border investigations. The court ordered that the accused be detained pending ruling on her bond application next week.
