Morning showers Friday with rollercoaster temps coming to Maryland

Morning showers Friday with rollercoaster temps coming to Maryland 06:08

Early Friday morning showers and storms dropped a quick .20" to .50" of rain across greater Baltimore and much of Maryland; less rain over on the eastern shore.

The forecast is trending drier through the afternoon. The First Alert Forecast includes lots of clouds and humid conditions. Temperatures peak in the mid-60s and lower 70s across much of Maryland Friday. It'll be warmest across Talbot and Dorchester Counties.

Scattered showers and isolated storms return to Maryland later Friday evening, into the overnight hours. The chance of rain gets a boost across greater Baltimore after 8 p.m. It won't be a total washout. Temperatures gradually cool back into the low and mid-50s overnight.

Saturday's forecast includes more cloudy, muggy weather. The greatest chance of showers will be Saturday morning. The rest of the day looks mostly cloudy to cloudy, with only spotty rain. There could be a big range in afternoon temperatures across Maryland Saturday afternoon. Temperatures could peak in the low 80s across southern Maryland, while northeastern Maryland (Cecil County) remains in the upper 50s and low 60s.

Baltimore City is forecast to peak in the mid-60s.

The morning and early afternoon hours look mostly dry Sunday. Scattered thunderstorms and areas of rain are again possible Sunday afternoon and evening. Wet weather becomes widespread Sunday evening. A few storms may be strong, with gusty winds. The First Alert Weather Team is watching that potential closely. The risk of strong storms is greater southwest of Maryland. Temperatures drop through the late afternoon and evening hours across the state Sunday.

A prolonged period of much cooler weather is ahead. Rain moves out Monday morning. High temperatures struggle to reach 60° Monday afternoon in Baltimore City; cooler north and west.

A second blast of chilly air sweeps in Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons remain in the upper 40s and 50s, with a brisk wind. Plan on temperatures bottoming out in the upper 20s and 30s Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Temperatures begin to rebound late next week.
