Montana Lady Griz welcome two transfers

MISSOULA — The Montana women's basketball team has added a pair of transfers this week.

Jocelyn Land, a 6-foot forward from Chanhassen, Minnesota, averaged 3.4 points and 1.1 rebounds for the Butler Bulldogs this past season as a freshman. She averaged 10.8 minutes per game and started twice.

Kennedy Gillette, 6-0 guard from Rexburg, Idaho, led the College of Southern Idaho in scoring (13.9 points per game) and 3-pointers (52) this past season as a sophomore. She guided CSI to a Scenic West Athletic Conference title and a 23-8 overall record and was named to the NJCAA All-American third team.

Gillette announced her commitment to Montana on Saturday and Land on Sunday via social media. The Lady Griz are starting a new era this fall under the guidance of Nate Harris, who will begin his first full season at the helm. He served as interim head coach in the latter part of the 2024-25 season and was named head coach last month.

Land ended her high school career with 2,212 points, 870 rebounds and 112 assists. She averaged 30.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as a senior and was a McDonald's All-American nominee.

"Jocelyn is like having a point forward at times with her ability to handle the ball against taller forwards but also has the ability to score on the blocks," Butler coach Austin Parkinson said this past fall. "She has consistent range on her outside shot and has the ability to guard multiple positions."

Gillette helped lead her team to the Region 18 Tournament semifinals last month before it was beaten by Salt Lake Community College. Gillette, who has been recognized for her strong play on both ends of the floor, had a team-high 24 points in the 65-55 loss.
