Mondrian Gold Coast - Concrete Playground

Published 14 hours ago2 minute read

Australia's first Mondrian Hotel has arrived on Burleigh Heads' iconic beachfront. Mondrian Gold Coast blends high-end design with laidback, sun-washed beach culture across its 208 rooms, suites, beach houses and residences. Just steps from the sand, the hotel is housed in a pair of sleek resort-style towers by renowned architects Fraser & Partners. It's the legendary hospitality brand's first foray down under, joining a global stable that includes properties in cities like Miami, Cannes, Seoul and Ibiza.

The interiors, designed by California-based Studio Carter, are unapologetically spacious. That's not just a trick of the eye — while the palette is anchored in calming neutral tones and plenty of natural light, rooms here are twice the size of the national average and offer sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, hinterland and headland beyond. For longer stays, the hotel's ten two- and three-bedroom homes boast their own kitchens and laundry facilities, while the two private beach houses feature plunge pools and flexible layouts. Up top, the 24th-floor Sky House sets a new benchmark in beachfront luxury with five-metre-high windows, a full chef's kitchen and cinematic coastal views.

On the food and drink front, LiTO brings Italian summer vibes to Burleigh's relaxed shores. From morning espresso to woodfired breads, house-made pasta and tableside tiramisu, the all-day menu is easy-going and elegant. Upstairs, the third-floor Haven is a more refined — but by no means stuffy — affair, just as suited to long lunches and poolside sundowners as it is for a nightcap with a spot of live music. The seasonal menu here champions seafood, woodfire cooking and local produce, while a dedicated agave menu, premium wines and champagne enhance the experience.

Wellness is also central to the guest experience. The 24-hour gym is kitted out with Technogym equipment, while magnesium plunge pools help fight off the DOMS. Those after something a little more restorative can make a booking at CIEL Spa, which offers a wide range of bio-wellness therapies. The hotel also hosts weddings, corporate retreats and creative gatherings across four levels of event spaces, from sunlit ballrooms to intimate beachfront residences.

With an evolving calendar of cultural programming, from music showcases to artist collaborations, Mondrian's first Australian outpost is as much an artistic statement as it is a place to stay — and a bold debut for a forward-thinking brand.
