The Hollywood film has made a record opening the country, crossing $2 million in gross collections across all languages. The latest Mission Impossible film is the highest opening Hollywood film in India in 2025. The film is set for a theatrical release on May 23 in the US. It was released on May 17 in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, India and South Korea. The film hit theatres on May 21 in the UK.

The new Hollywood actioner scored a decent $2.5 million opening in Indian markets. Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

The film is the eighth-highest opening score ever and the highest one for 2025 for any Hollywood film in India. Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning hit Indian theatres on a Saturday in India, and the box office numbers remained almost stagnant on the second day, Sunday, May 18.
On Monday, the film scored nearly $800,000 in India. It was the third day for the film at the Indian box office. It maintained the score on Tuesday as well. In three days at the box office, the original English version of the film collected a little $3 million in India while the Hindi version contributed nearly $1.5 million to the total collections. By the end of its four days at the box office, Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning has collected $6.5 million in India alone.

PVR INOXPVR INOX Ltd Revenue & Operations CEO Gautam Dutta said in a press not that Mission Impossible franchise stands tall among the few franchises that deliver entertainment for decades. He confirmed that the film had fifty per cent occupancy in PVR INOX theatres across the country and recorded the biggest Hollywood opening of the year. “Given the legacy of Ethan Hunt and the iconic action sequences that define the series, this film is more than just a finale—it’s a celebration of the cinematic experience itself. We are confident that it will continue to break records and keep audiences captivated.”
The Mission Impossible film franchise is based on the American television series by the same name which aired on CBS between 1966 and 1973. It was revived in 1988 for another two seasons. Tom Cruise began his Mission Impossible journey in 1996 with Brian De Palma’s Mission Impossible. He has since featured in all the movies made under the franchise.
Christopher McQuarrie joined the franchise as the writer-director in with the fifth instalment Mission Impossible Rogue Nation in 2015. Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One and Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning were initially touted to be send-off for the franchise. Last year, director McQuarrie told Fandango that it would not be the end of the franchise. At the Cannes red carpet, Cruise told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s not called ‘Final’ for nothing,” suggesting that the latest movie is the last one in the franchise.
According to BoxOfficeMojo, the latest film Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning has scored $5.5 million in South Korea since its release on May 17.
Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for the eighth installment of the popular fantasy-action franchise. Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Holt McCallany, Shea Whigham, Hannah Waddingham, and Nick Offerman also feature in Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning. The film had its world premiere at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival 2025 on May 14.
