Minimum temp drops to 8.9°C, air quality turns ‘poor’ again in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: The city's minimum temperature dropped by 3.6 degrees to 8.9 degrees Celsius from the season's normal (12.5 degrees Celsius) on Friday. The city's minimum temperature remained unrecorded on Thursday.
At 28°C, the maximum temperature was 0.1 degree lower than Thursday's measurement and 0.9 degree beneath the seasonal norm. Maximum temperature is anticipated to escalate to 30 degrees Celsius by Monday. Intermittently overcast skies with arid conditions are forecasted over the forthcoming five days.
The humidity fluctuated between 39 and 43% on Friday. Meanwhile, the city's air quality exhibited substantial deterioration at a ‘poor' reading of 217 on Friday compared to the previous day's ‘moderate' 157.
According to CPCB guidelines, ‘poor' AQI may induce breathing difficulties during extended exposure, whilst ‘moderate' AQI can precipitate respiratory discomfort in individuals with asthma or cardiopulmonary ailments.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good', 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory', 101 and 200 ‘moderate', 201 and 300 ‘poor', 301 and 400 ‘very poor', and 401 and 500 ‘severe'. Meanwhile, the air quality of Delhi, which had stayed moderate for six straight days, deteriorated to the poor category on Friday with an air quality index of 202.
It prompted Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), which revoked stage I of GRAP on Monday, to re-enforce it with immediate effect in Delhi-NCR. Stage I of

Graded Response Action Plan

focuses on the stringent enforcement of the existing guidelines. "AQI of Delhi has shown an increasing trend due to calm winds and unfavourable meteorological conditions in Delhi-NCR," CAQM stated.
