Military Truck Overturns Injuring 9 Soldiers in Nakhon Si Thammarat
Nakhon Si Thammarat: A military truck from Khet Udomsak Camp, returning from field training, lost control and overturned into the median strip, landing on its back with its wheels pointing to the sky. A total of 9 soldiers were injured.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV captured the moment when a military GMC truck belonging to the 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Battalion, Khet Udomsak Camp, Mueang District, Chumphon Province, 4th Army Region, lost control and overturned several times before tipping its back up to the sky. The incident occurred at the Kamnan Liang intersection on Highway 401, Village 4, Tambon Tha Kuen, Amphoe Tha Sala, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province at 10:40 a.m.
After the incident, the police of Thasala Police Station and rescue units went to inspect and found a large 4-wheeled military truck or GMC of Khet Udomsak Camp, Chumphon Province, in an upside-down state, the vehicle was completely destroyed. Initially, there were 9 injured people, who were personnel of the 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Battalion, Khet Udomsak Camp, Chumphon Province. Of these, 2 were trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. Officers had to use cutting equipment to cut through the wreckage to remove the injured people before sending 7 people to Thasala Hospital. Another person had a broken leg and was sent to Walailak University Medical Center Hospital. Another person had minor injuries and did not want to go to the hospital. The officers are all safe now. In the vehicle, military equipment and several M16 rifles were found scattered all over the vehicle.
The cause of the car falling into the road groove is under investigation.
The investigation of Sergeant Suthinan, the driver, who was slightly injured, provided information that all personnel traveled to field training at Vajiravudh Camp, 4th Army Area, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, between 23 January - 8 February 2025. After completing field training, they traveled back to their base at Khet Udomsak Camp, Chumphon Province.
There were 9 soldiers in the car. When they arrived at the scene at the intersection of Kamnan Liang, they lost control and fell into the median strip before plunging across to the other side, flipping over with their wheels pointing to the sky. This injured the soldiers. Fortunately, no one died. The cause is under investigation and the Superintendent of Thasala Police Station has already coordinated with the commanding officer of the unit to take further action. Meanwhile, the soldiers driving another car have already collected their weapons for training.
