Mason Miller, son of Florida basketball legend and two-time NBA champion Mike Miller, has entered the NCAA transfer portal after three seasons at Creighton, On3 confirmed on Wednesday. The development could spark interest from his father's alma mater as the Gators look to strengthen their roster through offseason additions.

The 6-foot-9 forward showed promise as a sophomore starter for the Bluejays, leading the Big East with 45.4% three-point shooting in 2023-24 before seeing reduced playing time this past season. His combination of size and shooting ability could fit well in Florida coach Todd Golden's system, which prioritizes floor spacing.

Mike Miller's deep ties to the Florida program add intrigue to the situation. The elder Miller starred for the Gators from 1998-2000, helping lead the team to the 2000 NCAA championship game before embarking on a 17-year NBA career. He remains closely connected to the university and its basketball program.

Mason Miller entered the portal the same day as Creighton teammate Pop Isaacs. The younger Miller started all 33 games in 2023-24 but just four this past season for a Bluejays team that reached the NCAA Tournament, defeating Louisville before falling to Auburn.

While no contact between Miller and Florida has been reported, the program's need for shooting and the family connection makes it a potential landing spot worth monitoring. Other options could include Murray State, where his uncle Ryan Miller was recently named head coach.

The transfer portal has seen heavy activity since opening Monday, with high-profile players like former Arizona State guard Joson Sanon already finding new homes. Florida, which missed this year's NCAA Tournament, could view Miller as a potential contributor as Golden enters his third season leading the program.
